China Trip

I said to myself I would update, but I can't be bothered doing a full one just yet, so I'll just summarise my first day.
Day 1
Arrived at 6 or 7am at the airport in Guangzhou and ended up making my uncle wait for an extra hour (because I went to the loo and then had to wait in long line for "aliens" aka foreigners)because of all the long lines in the airport. I had no idea what I was doing seeing as this was my first trip without parents in 8yrs. When we arrived (my sis was with me), it was actually quite warm, probably the opposite to what Melbourne was experiencing.
My uncle drove us out and the first thing you see is a lot of flowers. And I mean A LOT. They had some asian olympics going on, so they government dished out a lot of money into improving the scenery around guangzhou. So everywhere you look, you'll see a row of potted flowers. The first thing I learnt was in order to reduce traffic, only certain letters within a car's license plate determined what day they could drive. Which was a good thing for us, or else we would be stuck in traffic. Oh and another thing I learnt- there are no road rules. Well I kinda already knew that, but had to see for myself. While the flow of traffic heads in one direction, you'll see bikes, motorbikes travelling in the opposite direction. And those double lines or lines don't mean a thing. Or traffic lights in some cases. Oh, and everyone beeps at everyone. Seriously. My uncle beeped at a car literally every few minutes and me and my sister are like wth, and are scared for our lives at how fast our uncle was driving factoring in that everyone else was driving just as bad. And we didn't have seatbelts D:
Anyway, moving on, we directly headed for breakfast/brunch/yumcha at a restaurant. Thank god. The aeroplane food was horrible, and, and they didn't have those tvs in the back of the seats! the horror!! XD Me and my sis were looking forward to that, but apparently china southern airlines don't have them :/
If I remember right, the menu was full of poorly translated english. I think I have photos, but I'll put them up next time.
Proceeding on. According to my poorly written journal/note (typed on my phone ^^"), I did a lot of shopping on the first day, then went out for lunch and also had dinner at pizzahut (wasn't that great, asian take on pizza? No Hawaiian D:D:D:).
And I think at some point we went to my uncle's newly opened rice/oil shop. It's located in the more rural areas, further away from the city. He owns quite a few buildings there, where he rents apartments out to the people there.
I did a lot for the first day in Guangzhou and by that point, I'm sure I was ready to collapse on a bed.
